Veterans Memorial Park, Wichita

Veterans Memorial Park, Wichita

Veterans Memorial Park spans a peaceful green space along the Arkansas River and serves as a stirring tribute to the valor and sacrifice of U.S. service members across generations. Established in 1977 in time for the nation’s bicentennial, the park features an open-air flag pavilion housing 15 historical American flags-an evocative visual journey through the nation’s history-alongside 17 distinct memorials honoring six wars and every branch of the military.

Among these are notable tributes including the Berlin Airlift Memorial-one of only three in the country-the United States Ship Wichita monument, and memorials to veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, plus a solemn acknowledgement of Prisoners of War/ Missing in Action veterans and Gold Star families.

The park offers several amenities for visitors, including benches for rest, designated parking areas, and direct access to the Arkansas River’s recreational paths.
