Highlights of Naousa, Naousa, Greece

At the end of my photo-essay of Mykonos seven years ago, I included three different focal-length perspectives of the town of Naousa, as seen from the deck of a cruise boat. Those shots for years informed our desire to make Paros a target for a return visit to Greece.

When we did get to set foot on Paros, we chose Parikia rather than Naousa as the base of our stay, and it turned out to be a serendipitous decision. Naousa is prettier than Parikia around the waterfront, but it is also much more of a touristy hotspot, becoming overcrowded in the evenings. We are not precisely fans of crowds – far from it. In fact, looking at my photographic output from Naousa, I realize that I have more pictures taken inside churches than in the streets. That is no doubt because I judged the crowds in the inner-city perspectives to be excessive for any Photoshop-aided removal.

But on the main quay and around the small inner marina, especially early enough in the evening, Naousa certainly looks charming. ...... (follow the instructions below for accessing the rest of this article).
