Palma de Mallorca (or the Last Trip of Summer)

Palma de Mallorca (or the Last Trip of Summer), Palma de Mallorca, Spain

AdvertisementWhen we decided to fly to Palma, Mallorca this year I was not 100% on board. Not because I don’t like the Balearic Islands, quite the opposite actually. But the only time I went to Mallorca was to visit the infamous “Ballermann” in S’Arenal for two days and party all the 48 hours of it. Not that I hated that either, but it’s just a little too much a this point. And I couldn’t imagine that the rest of Palma was more beautiful. (Yes, I was wrong.) But the flights were like 75€ in total from Cologne which was actually very nice and it’s still better than Germany. So we thought why not?

Well, “why not” was actually because it was still summer vacation time in Germany so hotels were incredibly expensive. But first things first we flew from Cologne Sunday night (with like a one hour delay) and back Thursday afternoon for 75€ in total. With the hotel we got really lucky. Since we didn’t have a specific place on the island that we wanted to stay on (except not S’Arenal), we had a lot more options. We decided for the “Hostal Bonany” which is in Palma, right at the Port. For four nights we paid 222€ each (plus 5€ per day for breakfast) and since it was cheapest option, we were kind of scared what to expect. But I have to say it was a really nice hotel. The rooms weren’t super big but really modern and clean. Plus we had a huge balcony which was amazing and a cute view! The breakfast was a buffet and it wasn’t a huge selection but bread, coffee, fruits, eggs and cereal, so totally fair for 5€. The hotel staff was also super nice and helpful! And the hotel had a small pool which was amazing, since we didn’t have a beach close to us. The location was also great with bars, restaurants, bus stops and stores super close. We also paid only like 22€ in total for a taxi from the airport which was nice. Honestly the whole experience was a 10/10. ......
