Scavenger Hunt in Budapest; Kolodko Mini Statues (2/4), Budapest, Hungary
Welcome back to my blog series covering the many mini-statues by artist Mihaly Kolodko, you can find scattered around the city of Budapest. If you are just joining me, I would invite you to read the first post in this series by clicking on this link, for those that have already read the previous post, let’s continue on with what, I am sure you will find to be, the most comprehensive list of the Mihaly Kolodko mini-statue’s, located in and around Budapest.
One of the more difficult finds is this statue, Located in the lobby of the K11 Cultural Center on Kiraly Street, and I believe the only mini-statue found inside a building. The Harry Houdini statue is a sculpture dedicated to the legendary stunt performer and escape artist, Harry Houdini. Born in Budapest in 1874, Houdini’s exact birthplace is commemorated by this statue. Visitors can view the sculpture during opening hours at the art gallery inside the cultural center.
This statue is of Vuk, a beloved character from Istvan Fekete’s novel Vuk, and is nestled into the rocky wall of the Forrasbarlang, behind the Rudas Thermal Bath on the Buda side.
