Stockholm - Blue Sky & Cinnamon Buns, Stockholm, Sweden

I asked ChatGPT for a good Instagram caption and she (yes it’s a woman to me, get over it) literally said: “Stockholm syndrome? More like Stockholm adore-drome!” and I really don’t know how to feel about this lol. (Maybe a man afterall.)

Anyway, how beautiful is Stockholm? Like I don’t even know where to start. It’s such a calm, clean and beautiful city with kind people. It’s a little expensive and the sun setting at 3:30pm doesn’t really help with my winter depressions but there is nothing a cinnamon bun can’t fix.

So my Mom and I originally booked direct flights from Düsseldorf to Stockholm from Friday morning until Monday noon but of course Eurowings had to cancel our flight for Friday. So instead we paid 180€ for a flight at 4:30pm on Friday with a three-hour layover in Hamburg. How unnecessary is a flight from Düsseldorf to Hamburg, I couldn’t even tell you. Buuuut on the bright side, we saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. (Until we got to Stockholm.) There is something so special about sunsets and sunrises and the sky above the clouds.

So we arrived at the hotel really late around midnight. Which was also because we didn’t want to take the fast, new train Arlanda Express which is only 18 minutes but costs 30€ one-way, but took the FlixBus instead which takes 40 minutes to the city center but only costs around 6€. I have to say we walked forever through Stockholm Airport but at the end we did make it to the bus stop (probably by accident) and the FlixBus came every half hour. We then took the tube for like two stops which costs around 3.50€ per ticket. And then we finally arrived at the Rex Hotel. It was such a beautiful hotel, with a delicous breakfast included and really central. The rooms were clean and much bigger than we expected and the staff was so friendly.
