Amrita Craft Collection, Kathmandu

Amrita Craft Collection, located in Kathmandu, embodies the essence of traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Founded in 1985 the venture commenced its journey in the historic Durbar Square, Basantapur, initially focusing on exporting handicrafts and garments. This initial step laid the foundation for its emergence as a prominent player in the handicraft commerce sector. Over time, Amrita Craft Collection has evolved from a modest shop into a comprehensive center for various traditional Nepali and South Asian crafts.

The assortment at Amrita Craft is extensive, featuring a remarkable range of thangkas, prayer wheels, wooden carvings, jewelry, Mithila art, gems, and more. These items not only reflect the region's rich cultural heritage but also attract a diverse clientele, including collectors, tourists, and locals. The commendable quality and variety of offerings led to Amrita Craft Collection being acknowledged in 2000 as a leading exporter of cotton, showcasing its expertise beyond conventional handicrafts.

During the late 1980s, amid significant growth, the company shifted its base to Thamel, a vibrant commercial and tourist hub in Kathmandu. This strategic move facilitated the expansion of operations to include in-house production and packaging of handicrafts and garments. Presently, the company caters not only to a broad customer base within Nepal but has also established a robust international presence, exporting its distinctive products to Europe, the USA, Japan, and Australia.

In addition to serving as a retail destination, Amrita Craft Collection extends its services to small and medium-scale companies worldwide, providing production, packaging, labeling, and branding solutions. This business model promotes the global dissemination of Nepali craftsmanship, fostering cultural exchange and generating essential revenue streams for local artisans.
