Autoworld, Brussels

Autoworld, Brussels

Located within a vast hangar-like structure in the southern wing of Le Cinquantenaire Park, Autoworld offers visitors a chronological journey through the relatively brief history of automobiles, with an extensive collection of vintage vehicles, starting with early motorized cycles and Model Ts from the turn of the century.

The majority of the vehicles on display are of European origin, featuring numerous Peugeot, Renault, and Benz models. There are also domestic examples, including a 1925 Minerva once owned by the Belgian monarch. American automobiles make an appearance with early Cadillacs, a 1965 Lincoln that was also in possession of the Belgian royal family, and some stylish Oldsmobiles reminiscent of the gangster era. Among the British car brands, visitors can admire a perfectly preserved 1921 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, one of the first Austins, and even the short-lived DeLorean sports car from the modern era.

For those looking to explore further, an upstairs section houses a diverse collection of vehicles that didn't quite fit into the main exhibition. While it may appear somewhat eclectic, it's worth a brief visit to see early Porsches, Volvos, classic 1960s Jaguars, and even a tuk-tuk from Thailand.

In addition to informative English labels (particularly for the exhibits downstairs), Autoworld features a well-stocked museum shop offering a wide range of automobile-related merchandise, including an impressive selection of model cars. Visitors can also take advantage of the affordable on-site café with a wide range of Belgian beers, which serves as a welcome bonus for those in need of refreshments during their visit.

Why You Should Visit:
Outstanding permanent collection, with displays regularly undergoing rearrangement to keep the experience fresh and engaging. In addition to the permanent exhibits, the special exhibitions are particularly noteworthy, featuring unique scenography that adds an extra layer of fascination.

Tip:
For a nominal fee, visitors have the option to enhance their experience with an audio guide, providing in-depth information about specific cars.
