B.B. King's Blues Club, Memphis

B.B. King's Blues Club, Memphis

B.B. King’s Blues Club stands in the historic core of Memphis and is one of Beale Street’s best-known music venues. Opened in Memphis in 1991, it became part of the early-1990s revival of the historic entertainment district and has remained an important nightlife center in the city’s history.

The first highlight is outside. As you enter the club through the main double doors under the awning, look to your right and upward to find the towering exterior neon sign. It is a gift of visual theater to the Memphis skyline, crafted in the shape of a giant guitar that flashes in multicolored neon late into the night.

The venue offers a lively, accessible version of the Beale Street experience, with Southern food classics, barbecue, signature drinks, and live music in a brightly decorated listening room. Inside, the space is open and energetic, creating a classic Southern supper-club atmosphere. Walk forward from the main entrance doors into the main body of the listening room to find the center of the ground floor. Here, the venue showcases its central live performance stage. This platform is continuously alive with sound, featuring daily performances that regularly include the in-house B.B. King All-Star Band.

Another highlight can be seen by leaving the crowded center of the dance floor and walking around the dining tables toward the side walls of the lower seating area. Set into a prominent custom wall exhibit is the “Lucille” Guitar Display. It shows the iconic cherry-red Gibson guitar models that B.B. King famously named “Lucille.” The display features pristine replicas of his signature instrument, complete with custom gold hardware. Another modern addition nearby is the club’s extensive collection of original artwork and rare photography lining the dining halls.

After 5:00 PM, seating is first-come, first-served, and table access can get crowded, so checking the performance calendar and arriving early is highly advisable.
