Bojdeuca lui Ion Creanga (Ion Creanga's House), Iasi
Ion Creanga's House is located in the Ticau district of Iași. This modest cottage, consisting of two rooms, served as the residence of the renowned Romanian storyteller Ion Creanga from 1872 until his death in 1889. The house also hosted his friend, the famous poet Mihai Eminescu, during the summer and autumn of 1876.
This historical house became the first memorial museum in Romania on April 15, 1918, with subsequent restorations in 1942 and 1985. Today, it is listed as a Historical Monument. The cottage preserves various personal belongings of Ion Creanga, including his writing instruments, household items, and books.
Additionally, an annex building was inaugurated on June 11, 1989, to house a library, a documentary collection, and an exhibition space. An outdoor amphitheater in front of this building is used for children's shows, making the site a vibrant cultural complex. Annually, Ion Creanga's House attracts over 50,000 visitors, offering them a glimpse into the life and work of one of Romania's most cherished literary figures.
