Broadway Antique Market, Chicago
With more than 80 handpicked dealers, the Broadway Antique Market (affectionately known as BAM by its die-hard fans) is like a treasure trove waiting to be plundered. This place has been serving vintage goodness since 1990 and sprawls over a whopping 10,000 square feet, which is basically the size of a small country (if that country was entirely dedicated to cool old stuff).
While the main focus here is squarely on the mid-20th century, you'll find a smorgasbord of eras and styles. They've got everything from Arts and Crafts to Art Deco to Mid-Century Modern, including art & ephemera, jewelry, pottery, men and women's vintage clothing (you might just stumble upon the hipster outfit of your dreams), lighting that will brighten up your life, glassware that would make your grandma's collection look weak, and a collection of various rarities and oddities that could make Ripley's Believe It or Not jealous.
Oh, and did we mention that it's all presented in a way that's fancier than a catwalk at Paris Fashion Week? Plus, the building itself is a shining example of deco architecture, so even if you're not in the market for a new desk or dresser, you can still pretend to be an archaeologist from the future, exploring the remnants of days long gone. Who knew time travel could be so stylish?
