Center for Experimental Theater, Brno

The Centre for Experimental Theatre (CET) in Brno is a vibrant cultural institution that serves as a hub for innovative and bold performing arts. Located in the historic center of Brno, CET operates across two primary locations. Its headquarters, situated on Zelný Square, houses two of its main theatres, Husa na provázku and Terén. Another of CET's theatres, HaDivadlo, is located in the functionalist Alfa Palace on Poštovská Street.

The CET premises on Zelný Square are architecturally significant, comprising a complex that blends historical and modern elements. The complex includes the Baroque House of the Lords of Fanal and the New Stage building, which are connected by a unique outdoor Elizabethan stage. The design and development of these spaces have been shaped by renowned architects, and the complex earned first prize in the prestigious Grand Prix architectural competition in 1993.

CET oversees three artistically independent theatres (Husa na Provázku, HaDivadlo, and the Terén Performance Art Platform). These theatres are dedicated to exploring contemporary forms of performing arts, fostering artistic experimentation, and advancing new theatrical languages. CET supports the diverse dramaturgical and aesthetic approaches of these theatres, viewing their work as a tool for understanding and shaping the world.

In addition to its performances, CET engages the public through educational and accompanying programs, including dramaturgical introductions, lectures, and discussions. The center also maintains an open library and archive and publishes a specialist magazine, CEDIT, further extending its influence and commitment to the performing arts.
