Central Plaza One, Brisbane

Central Plaza One, Brisbane

Central Plaza One is a prominent skyscraper situated in Brisbane. It was meticulously designed by the renowned Japanese architect, Kurokawa Kisho. This towering structure stands impressively at a height of 174 meters (571 feet) and boasts 44 floors.

The construction of Central Plaza One was successfully completed in 1988, and it became closely associated with the Australian Bicentenary and the World Expo '88 held in Brisbane. You can find it on Queen Street, positioned at the intersection of Creek Street within Brisbane's central business district.

Upon its completion, Central Plaza One proudly held the title of Brisbane's tallest building until Riparian Plaza surpassed it in 2005. Adjacent to Central Plaza One, there exists a smaller version of the tower, known as Central Plaza Two, which shares a similar architectural design but stands at a height of 110 meters.

In 2008, Central Plaza Three was constructed, reaching a height of 57 meters, thus completing the Central Plaza Complex. An interesting feature of Central Plaza One is its distinctive window cleaning mechanism, where a section at the top of the building can rotate, allowing for the suspension of outdoor window cleaners.

The building's plush foyers, striking facade, and integration of advanced technology systems have collectively contributed to its reputation as one of the most iconic structures in Australia.
