Champ de Mars Park, Montpellier

The Champ de Mars Park in Montpellier is a verdant extension of the bustling Comedy Square (Place de la Comédie), offering a tranquil escape amidst lush greenery. Designed by the renowned landscape architect Edouard André, who also crafted Paris's Parc Montsouris and Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, the park opened to the public in 1900 and has since become a cherished green space for residents and visitors alike.

Spread over 35,000 square meters, the park is characterized by its English-style layout, with curvilinear paths winding through exotic vegetation. Visitors can admire a wide array of plant species typical of the early 20th century, such as Podocarpus, ginkgo, Osage orange trees, magnolias, and blue palm trees. At the park's center lies a picturesque pond, home to ducks and swans, adding to the serene atmosphere.
