Genghis - Khan, Ulaanbaatar

Here in Ulaanbataar, you have the chance to see a impressive geoglyph - a hillside portrait of Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire. This large-scale artwork is made by arranging white stones on the slope of a hill, creating a portrait on the landscape itself. The portrait is said to be about 150 meters in height, making it an impressive landmark for its scale.

Because the portrait is on a hillside, the best views are from higher vantage points or from certain roads overlooking the hill. There’s no formal entrance or museum here - it’s more of a “monument in the land”, best appreciated visually from afar rather than toured up close.
