Gogol’s House in Odessa offers a rare glimpse into the city’s literary past, tied to one of the most distinctive voices in Russian and Ukrainian literature. Built in 1846, the building originally belonged to Gogol’s uncle, Andriy Troschinskiy, and served as the writer’s residence during his stay in Odessa between 1850 and 1851. Though Gogol’s time in the city was brief, it remains an important chapter in his life, and the street itself was renamed Gogol Street in 1902 as a tribute to his cultural legacy.
