Haus der Springmaus (House of the Jumping Mouse), Bonn
The House of the Jumping Mouse, is one of Germany’s most celebrated cabaret stages. Since relocating to its current home in a charmingly renovated former dance hall in 1993, the venue has offered an atmospheric blend of historic charm and contemporary flair, with stylish interiors and a lively foyer and bar.
The heart of the House of the Jumping Mouse is its auditorium, with seating for about 280 guests across two levels. Here, performances range from irreverent improvisational comedy-delivered by the renowned Springmaus ensemble-to sharp-witted satirical cabaret, live music, chanson, and themed shows. A well-stocked bar and bistro ensure guests are relaxed and socially engaged before, during intermissions, and after the shows.
This venue is the longtime home of the Springmaus Improvisational Theatre, founded in 1983 by Bill Mockridge and moving here a decade later. The Springmaus group continues to thrill audiences with spontaneous, audience-driven performances, while guest artists-ranging from rising talents to household names-take the stage in regular rotations.
The theater also hosts its own house ensemble, Rhine Cabaret, alongside family-oriented and student-focused events. In total, the House of the Jumping Mouse welcomes over 65,000 visitors annually and stages more than 250 events per year-making it a cultural mainstay in Bonn.
