Juhu Beach, Mumbai
Juhu Beach lies along the Arabian Sea's coastline and extends for a distance of six kilometers, reaching all the way to Versova. Unlike Chennai's Marina Beach, which is primarily sandy, Juhu Beach features short, rocky formations. It's a popular tourist spot year-round and is also a favored location for filming movies. The beach tends to get more crowded on weekends and public holidays.
The food court at the main entrance is renowned for its 'Mumbai style' street food, including dishes like bhelpuri, pani puri, and sev puri. In the past, horse-drawn carriages used to offer joyrides to tourists for a small fee, but this practice has now been banned. Various entertainers such as acrobats, dancing monkeys, cricket matches, and toy vendors compete for the attention of tourists. Juhu Beach is one of the city's most popular sites for the annual Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, where thousands of devotees participate in grand processions, carrying idols of Lord Ganesh of various sizes to be immersed in the sea at the beach.
The ideal time to visit Juhu Beach is from September to May, as the monsoon season from June to August brings high tides that can be hazardous for beachgoers. The beach's stunning sunsets add to its overall charm.
