Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai

Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai

Established in 2000, Tao Art Gallery has become a well-respected name in the Mumbai art scene. Led by Kalpana Shah, a knowledgeable art enthusiast and self-taught artist, the gallery has witnessed the ups and downs of the art market. From its early days when it showcased the works of renowned Indian artists like Hussain, Raza, and Tyeb Mehta in the early 2000s, to its recovery after the financial crisis by featuring a new generation of artists, Tao has undergone various transformations.

Over its 20-year history, Tao has organized thoughtfully designed exhibitions that explore a wide range of art forms, including painting, photography, sculpture, video, performance, and installation art, in its two exhibition spaces. The gallery embraces a broad spectrum of creative expression and places a strong emphasis on presenting artistic talent in powerful and innovative ways, creating a stimulating experience for its audience and fostering discussions on culture, aesthetics, and the tradition of visual arts.

Tao Art Gallery has also actively contributed to the art world by publishing several art books and hosting art education workshops, interactive sessions with artists, and knowledge-based lectures. These initiatives aim to promote a love for art and enhance the global presence of Indian art.
