Kreuzschanze, Munster

The Kreuzschanze is a park and a former sconce on the northern edge of the city center of Münster. Originally, it was protected by a moat, which is still preserved in the form of two small ponds. This area was converted into a park in the late 19th century after the demolition of the city walls and fortifications. The Kreuzschanze features statues of honored artists and scholars, such as Annette von Droste-Hulshoff , Julius Otto Grimm and Bernard Altum.
