Mikael Andersen Gallery, established in 1989 in the heart of Copenhagen, has played a significant role in the evolution of Danish contemporary art over the decades. Located on Bredgade, near the Christoffer Egelund Gallery, this venue specializes in modern and contemporary art, fostering the careers of both emerging and established Danish and international artists. The gallery's focus includes a vast array of contemporary works primarily from the 1980s and 1990s, alongside select classical period paintings.

Throughout its history, Mikael Andersen Gallery has not only focused on showcasing talent within its walls but also on curating significant external exhibitions. Notable projects have included "Fairy Tales Forever" at Aarhus Art Museum in 2005, "Display" at Charlottenborg in Copenhagen in 1997, and "City Space" in various public locations in Copenhagen in 1996. These exhibitions have featured prominent artists such as Vanessa Beecroft, Daniel Buren, Mona Hatoum, Pierre Huyghe, William Kentridge, Martin Kippenberger, Elke Krystufek, Paul McCarthy & Mike Kelley, and Pipilotti Rist.

Expanding its influence beyond Danish borders, the gallery also operated a space in Berlin from 2007 to 2014, which allowed it to engage more deeply with the German art scene. This move not only broadened its artistic scope but also reinforced its position as a key player in the international art community.

Today, Mikael Andersen Gallery continues to uphold its tradition of promoting an eclectic mix of young talent and influential figures from the international art world, emphasizing its commitment to the dynamic and diverse nature of contemporary art.
