The Monument to the victims of 1915 comprises a bronze statue that depicts a female figure symbolizing Italian civilization. It commemorates the casualties resulting from an Austrian aviation bombing that occurred on November 14, 1915, during the early stages of World War I. This attack inflicted significant damage upon the city. In this instance, a bomb dropped on Piazza delle Erbe, not far from the current location of the memorial, led to the tragic loss of 29 civilians and numerous injuries.

The responsibility for crafting the statue fell upon the sculptor Egidio Girelli, and it was publicly unveiled on November 14, 1920, marking the fifth anniversary of the war. The sculpture, influenced by the Art Nouveau style, portrays a woman in ancient attire wielding a sword towards the heavens. The artist's aim was to convey emotions of sorrow, suffering, and sacrifice while paying homage to the victims of this harrowing event.
