Municipal Library (Biblioteca Municipal), Sintra

The Municipal Library of Sintra has a long tradition and is an example of longevity and cultural intervention in the city. It was founded in the first half of 20th century by Antonio da Cunha and in 2003 it was moved to House Mantero, a 19th century Victorian-style palace. The library owns over 60,000 volumes of monographs, documents of high worth, literature and a fund for audiovisual documentary. The House Mantero has an exhibition gallery. There is also a large garden with a tea house, cafe and a large space for outdoor cultural events.
