The Theater House Chão de Oliva, established in 1987, stands as a pivotal cultural institution in Sintra. Managed by Chão de Oliva, a Cultural Diffusion Center in Sintra, it has grown into a vibrant hub for artistic creation, cultural programming, and educational services. Located on R. Veiga da Cunha Street, the theater occupies the historic Tivoli Cinema, a 20th-century architectural gem repurposed from its origins as a cinema into a space dedicated to the performing arts.

The theater operates on three core axes: Theatrical Creation, Cultural Programming, and Educational Service, which together underpin its extensive offerings. Over the decades, it has fostered innovation and inclusivity, engaging professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Chão de Oliva has hosted performances by celebrated authors such as Gil Vicente, Shakespeare, Federico García Lorca, and Chekhov, alongside works from contemporary and Portuguese playwrights like Luís Vieira and Henrique da Mota.
