Museu D. Diogo de Sousa (D. Diogo de Sousa Archeology Museum), Braga

The Museu D. Diogo de Sousa houses a diverse collection of archaeological artifacts from the Braga region. The museum's collection spans a wide range of chronological and cultural periods, encompassing artifacts from the Paleolithic era to the Middle Ages.

One of the standout features of the museum is its impressive collection of Roman artifacts. These include tombstones and various items that offer insights into the daily lives of the people who inhabited Bracara Augusta, the Roman predecessor to Braga, as well as the broader Roman world. The Roman section of the museum provides visitors with a glimpse into the rich history of the region during this period. In addition to its Roman collection, the Museu D. Diogo de Sousa also features a highly regarded medieval burial section.

The museum is named in honor of Archbishop Diogo de Sousa, who played a significant role in the expansion and improvement of the city of Braga and its infrastructure after assuming office in 1512.
