Museum of the Future, Dubai
Launched on February 22, 2022, by the Dubai Future Foundation, the Museum of the Future is a testament to the city's commitment to exploring the potential evolution of society in the coming decades through advancements in science and technology.
Described as a 'living museum,' the Museum of the Future seamlessly integrates elements of traditional exhibitions, immersive theater, and themed attractions. Visitors are invited to peer into the future, exploring the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. The museum not only serves as a space for reflection but also as the hub for Dubai's ‘Great Arab Minds’ initiative. This initiative is dedicated to identifying and showcasing 1,000 exceptional Arab talents across various key fields, fostering a global intellectual movement.
Designed as an asymmetric torus enveloped in steel and glass, the Museum of the Future has earned recognition from National Geographic as one of the world's 14 most beautiful museums. Architect Shaun Killa, the visionary behind the structure, aimed to capture Dubai’s forward-looking vision in its design.
The museum's exterior is a striking fusion of art and architecture, featuring Arabic calligraphy that serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose as glass windows. Crafted by Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej, these calligraphic designs reflect lines of inspirational poetry by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This artistic integration adds a layer of cultural significance to the museum's exterior, making it a captivating symbol of Dubai's embrace of innovation and its profound vision for the future.
