Parque de la Reserva, Lima

Parque de la Reserva, Lima

Parque de la Reserva or “Park of the Reserve” is a fountain park in downtown Lima. Built by French architect, Claude Sahut, it was heavily criticized initially for its high cost and design. The focal attraction, Magic Water, is known to be the biggest fountain complex in the world and the world's record holder. Made up of 13 fountains, it is quite a sight. At night, the fountains are illuminated with vibrant, continuously changing colors. The Magic Fountain jets can push water up to more than 80 meters high.

Among other attractions are a 35-meter walk through the water tunnel called the Tunnel Fountain of Surprises, the automated fountain known as the Children’s Fountain, as well as the tunnel which connects the park’s two sections and houses an exhibition displaying the latest public projects in the city. There is also a regularly scheduled laser and picture show, measuring 120 meters in height, and featuring synchronized jets pulsing to the sound of music, called the Fantasia Fountain. Top rated by various travel guides to Lima, this park has long been a popular venue with locals and tourists alike, renowned for its colorful fountain extravaganza and the great experience it offers. Rest assured, you will subscribe to this opinion wholeheartedly, too, when you get a chance to experience this amazing place yourself.

Why You Should Visit:
If you like fountains, lights and a water show, this is for you! Not really 'touristy' – it's basically just families having fun and out for the night in a really lovely, neat public setting.

Tip:
There's one fountain you can play in and get wet for a hot day, so depending on when you go, you may want to bring a backpack and towel.
