Praia do Pina (Pina Beach), Recife
Praia do Pina stretches along a sandy shoreline shaped by the Atlantic and offshore reefs. At low tide, these reefs form calm natural pools, while beyond them the waves are stronger, creating a contrast between quieter and more active areas. A section known as Buraco da Velha marks a break in the reefs, forming a popular natural swimming spot.
The sand is firm and suitable for walking and sports, with areas marked for football and conditions often used for kitesurfing. The Pina Skatepark near the shoreline adds activity, with concrete ramps, rails, and open areas used by skaters and BMX riders, especially in the afternoon. In the morning, the beach is quieter, with runners and walkers, while later it becomes more active with games and groups. Its proximity to RioMar, a large shopping complex with restaurants, cinemas, and retail spaces, brings more visitors, particularly on weekends.
Palm trees provide shade near simple kiosks and beach bars where visitors can eat by the sea. Here you can try caldinho and seafood like oysters or bobó de camarão with coconut rice. As the tide recedes, more reefs appear and the setting becomes quieter. Swimming is safest behind the reefs at low tide, as deeper waters may carry shark risks, and these formations are hardened ancient sand dunes.
