Renault Theater, Sao Paulo

Renault Theater, Sao Paulo

The Renault Theater, formerly known as Teatro Paramount and Teatro Abril, is a historic Brazilian theater located on Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônio in São Paulo. The theater has a rich and intriguing history, dating back to its opening in 1929.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck in 1969 when a fire engulfed the theater, causing severe damage and leading to its closure. However, the theater underwent a significant renovation project in 2000 and was reopened to the public in 2001 under its new name, Renault Theater.

One of the prominent features of the Renault Theater is its affiliation with A Time For Fun, a company that specializes in bringing the genre of musical theater to audiences. The theater serves as the main venue for A Time For Fun, offering spectacular productions of Broadway and West End musicals in their imported versions or replicas. This commitment to recreating the original experience allows theatergoers to enjoy shows at Renault Theater with the same level of quality and grandeur as if they were watching them in their original homes in New York or London.

In a remarkable turn of events, the reopening of the theater in 2001 saw the staging of the legendary French musical "Les Misérables" by Boublil & Schönberg. This iconic production was chosen as the inaugural show to bring life back to the former Paramount Cine-Theater, which had remained closed for more than three decades since the tragic fire. Under the new name the theater once again became a hub of artistic expression and entertainment.

Today, Renault Theater is a symbol of resilience and dedication in the arts scene. Despite a devastating fire, it has been restored and remains a testament to the enduring power of theater. In partnership with A Time For Fun, Renault Theater delivers world-class musical theater experiences, enriching the cultural landscape of São Paulo.
