Azeem Zakria, who was inspired by a stationery shop in Florence, Italy, started Scriptum. It first opened in May 2003 in Oxford’s Golden Cross area. In 2006, it moved to a bigger space on Turl Street. Here, it continues to attract people with its unique offerings. Zakria is dedicated to keeping the tradition of handmade stationery alive, making Scriptum a key place for lasting style and excellent craftsmanship.

When you walk into Scriptum, you're hit with the smells of leather and the sound of Italian opera, creating a rich and inviting environment. The shop is like a treasure-filled cave, offering leather journals, dip pens, quills, Murano glass pens, various inks, sealing wax, unique prints, and the largest collection of Venetian masks in Oxfordshire. Scriptum is more than just a stationery store; it's also known for its selection of hardcover fiction books.
