Spectrum Gallery, Fresno

Spectrum Gallery, Fresno

Welcome to Spectrum Art Gallery, a must-see stop for photography lovers exploring Fresno’s historic Tower District. Founded in 1980 as a cooperative, it was born from enthusiasts gathering at Photo Synthesis and later formalized as a thread of creative expression in Central California. Spectrum proudly upholds its mission “to advance photography as an art form” through monthly curated exhibits, workshops, and an engaging community environment.

With around 100 active members, Spectrum showcases an impressive range of photographic styles-from traditional wet chemical prints to modern mixed media explorations. Major exhibitions generally last one month, featuring both local photographers and renowned guest artists-such as Wynn Bullock, Judy Dater, and Jerry Uelsmann-who often lead presentations and workshops to enrich visitors' experiences.

Beyond gallery walls, Spectrum hosts an annual print auction that draws collectors and enthusiasts from near and far. With rare portfolios-like Edward Weston’s iconic works-and community-focused prints, it combines cultural celebration with philanthropic impact. The event supports the gallery’s nonprofit mission and offers a chance to take home a piece of photographic history.

Visitors can drop by during Art Hop on the first Thursday of every month, or plan a visit Thursday through Sunday during regular hours. Expect a warm welcome and a thoughtfully curated visual journey as you browse vibrant exhibitions, discover emerging talent, and connect with Fresno’s creative pulse at Spectrum Art Gallery.
