St. Augustine Distillery, St. Augustine
The St. Augustine Distillery is a historic distillery that offers a free 45-minute guided tour to visitors. The distillery has been voted “Best Whiskey Distillery Tour in North America” in the 2018 Drammie Awards, and it attracts over 150,000 visitors annually.
Housed in the Historic FP&L Ice Plant, circa 1905, which was the first of its kind to make commercial block ice in Florida over a century ago, the St. Augustine Distillery invites guests to step back in time and experience the passion for historic preservation, supporting local farmers, and serving award-winning spirits. The building, which was founded by 20 local families to do something good for St. Augustine, has been lovingly restored and now serves as a home for Florida's first bourbon and other fine craft spirits.
The distillery uses Florida's legendary agriculture, including citrus, sugarcane, corn, and wheat, sourced from local farmers, to create some of the country's most sought-after craft spirits. Guests get to experience the hand-made copper stills and learn how the company's spirits are made from grain to glass before enjoying free samples in the Tasting Room.
The tour concludes in the Gift Shop Bourbon Bar, where visitors can enjoy an additional sample of the company's proprietary Old-Fashioned and are invited to enjoy the full flavor of any of the distillery's spirits "neat". The distillery's passion for sustainability, community, and social good shines through every step of their process.
Daily tours run every 30 minutes from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and no reservations are required. The distillery also offers free on-site parking. Visitors can visit the St. Augustine Distillery's website to take a 60-second preview tour and learn about the people, operations, and mission of what many consider the newest and best attraction in the Nation's Oldest City.
