Stichting Piet Pijn (Piet Pijn Foundation), Utrecht

Established in April 2002, the Piet Pijn Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting the artistic legacy of Piet Pijn (1926–2002), a renowned Dutch painter and sculptor regarded as a patriarch of Northern Realism. Managed by a six-member board and supported by volunteers, the foundation ensures that Pijn’s paintings, drawings, and sculptures remain accessible to the public through conservation, exhibitions, and digital archiving.

At the heart of the foundation’s collection is Pijn’s distinctive body of work, which frequently depicts nude studies of his wife, Mia Pijn, and surreal underwater landscapes. These works, along with others, are housed in the Piet Pijn Museum, where they are carefully maintained for future generations. To support its mission, the foundation offers selected pieces for sale, allowing art lovers to own a part of Pijn’s remarkable oeuvre.

The foundation has also taken steps to digitize and archive Pijn’s entire portfolio, ensuring wider accessibility. In addition, two newly published books-"Eye for Nature" (exploring his landscapes) and "Rijke Oogst" (focusing on the still lifes of Ineke Pijn)-are available for purchase. Past publications, such as "Art was his life" and "Land, Sky and Water", were widely acclaimed but have since sold out.

In 2023, a special theme exhibition in Lunteren showcased works by both Piet and Ineke Pijn, emphasizing the relationship between humanity and nature. The foundation also maintains a YouTube channel, offering insightful videos on Piet and Ineke Pijn’s artistic journey. Additionally, an interview with Petra Bakker for the television program Mooi Zo! provides further insight into Pijn’s impact on Dutch art.

Through its ongoing initiatives, the Piet Pijn Foundation remains committed to preserving, sharing, and celebrating the work of this remarkable artist.
