Upside Down World opened in 2016 as an indoor photo attraction built around a simple visual trick: ordinary rooms are turned upside down. Sofas, tables, beds, kitchen fittings, and decorative objects are fixed above visitors’ heads, creating the impression that people are standing on the ceiling or floating through a room. It is less a traditional museum and more a playful space designed for optical-illusion photography.

Inside, visitors move through a series of themed settings, often including a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and other domestic scenes. Some rooms include local decorative touches, adding a Balinese reference to the otherwise surreal setup. The experience works best with a phone or camera, since the final effect usually appears after the image is rotated. Staff are often available to suggest poses and angles, which helps visitors get clearer and funnier photos.

For tourists, Upside Down World offers a light break from temples, beaches, markets, and outdoor sightseeing. It is especially suited to families, groups of friends, and travellers who enjoy staged photos rather than long exhibitions. A visit is usually short, often around 30 to 60 minutes, making it easy to fit into a wider day of exploring nearby cultural sites, shopping areas, or food stops.
