Veterans' Memorial Park, Sioux Falls

Veterans' Memorial Park, Sioux Falls

Veterans' Memorial Park in Sioux Falls stands as a tribute to the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. Spanning 22 acres, the park was designed as a place of remembrance, reflection, and community gathering, ensuring that the sacrifices of veterans are honored and their legacy preserved.

Located on the site of a former WWII Army Air Corps training base, the park seamlessly blends history with commemoration. It features a Medal of Honor Garden, multiple memorial walls, and a Gold Star Families Monument, which pays tribute to families who have lost loved ones in service. Sculptures, dedication pavers, and flags further enrich the space, while historic and military displays provide deeper insights into the experiences of those who served. The Rosie the Riveter Garden tells the story of the six million Americans who supported the war effort on the home front.

Designed with both formal and informal gathering areas, the park serves as a venue for annual events, ceremonies, and free summer entertainment at the amphitheater. The walking trails and bridges encourage visitors to explore, reflect, and appreciate the dedication of past and present service members.

The park was master-planned by Confluence, incorporating public input workshops to ensure it met the needs of veterans and the broader community. With an adaptable design, the space allows for future memorials and expansions to continue honoring those who have served. Since its dedication in 2006, Veterans' Memorial Park has remained a vital part of Sioux Falls, offering a lasting place of tribute and education for generations to come.
