W5 Museum, Belfast
W5 (short for “Who, What, Where, When, Why”) is an award-winning science and discovery centre tucked within Belfast’s vibrant Odyssey complex in the Titanic Quarter-just a short walk from the city centre. It’s a family-friendly destination that sparks curiosity through exploration, hands-on challenges, and inventive play. Spanning over 3,500 square meters across multiple floors, W5 offers more than 250 interactive exhibits spread across eight themed zones.
Visitors can choose from a variety of themed areas-from the mechanical thrills of The Marvellous Machine, to the blue-sky adventures in In Our Nature, and the physical energy fun in Energise. Little explorers will especially enjoy The Lost Planet and Skull Cave, a space-and-dinosaur-themed soft-play zone, while more daring guests can tackle Climbit, Europe’s largest indoor climbing structure. There’s also MED‑Lab, where you can discover how the human body and modern medicine work.
Beyond the permanent installations, W5 features daily science demonstrations at the Science Bar and rotates seasonal exhibitions-this summer’s highlight being “Dinosaurs Survive!” with animatronics and immersive soundscapes. The museum caters to all ages (3 years and up; under‑3s enter free) and is fully accessible, with facilities such as wheelchairs, audio‑loop systems, cafés, and picnic areas-perfect for families or curious solo travellers.
Allow at least 2–4 hours for your visit, and don’t miss out on the on-site Coffee Lab and gift shop. Whether you’re peering through optical illusions, building contraptions, exploring nature, or mastering body-powered energy challenges, W5 offers an unforgettable, hands-on adventure that blends learning and fun for all ages.
