Addis Ababa Museum, Addis Ababa

Established during Addis Ababa's centennial celebration in 1986, the Addis Ababa Museum houses captivating portraits of influential figures such as the formidable Empress Taitu, the charismatic Lij Iyasu, and the exceptionally beautiful Empress Zewditu. Additionally, it showcases historical snapshots depicting the early days of the capital.

One of its notable features is the 'first-in-Ethiopia' exhibit, which includes photographs capturing pivotal moments like Menelik's encounter with Bede Bentley in Addis Ababa's inaugural motor car in 1907, as well as the introduction of Ethiopia's first telephone. Ras Makonnen imported this groundbreaking communication device from Italy in 1890, prompting local priests to initially mistake the unfamiliar sound of disembodied voices for the handiwork of demons.
