All Saints Church of Winter Park, Orlando

All Saints Church of Winter Park, Orlando

All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, Florida, stands as a significant historic landmark with a rich architectural and community history. Located on East Lyman Avenue, the church is a testament to the enduring influence of Late Gothic Revival architecture, a style it embodies through the designs of Ralph Adams Cram and H.C. Cone. Its significance was nationally recognized when it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on January 7, 2000.

The church's journey began in 1886 with the construction of an Episcopalian church on the same land. By 1937, the congregation, seeking to accommodate their growing numbers and activities, decided against renovating the existing building. Instead, they envisioned a new, larger structure that could better serve their needs. To bring this vision to life, they engaged the architectural firm Cram and Ferguson, known for their expertise in ecclesiastical architecture.

With the shadows of World War II looming, the congregation was keen to commence construction. The groundbreaking for the new church building took place in 1941, marking the start of a significant chapter in the church's history. The following year, on March 29, 1942, Reverend Paul Matthews led the first worship service in the newly constructed church, a momentous event for the community.

The church's aesthetic was further enhanced between 1946 and 1947 when the Willet Stained Glass Studio installed intricate stained glass windows. These windows not only added to the church's beauty but also contributed to the spiritual ambiance of the space, enriching the worship experience for congregants.
