Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi

The Arts Council of Pakistan is a cultural institution dedicated to promoting visual arts, literature, music, theatre, dance, and film. Its origins date to 1948 with the founding of the Fine Arts Society of Karachi. The organization was reorganized and renamed in 1954, then registered as a nonprofit under the Societies Act on May 10, 1955. It has served as a gathering place for artists, writers, performers, and audiences through exhibitions, performances, educational programs, and cultural events.

The campus contains performance halls, art galleries, rehearsal spaces, and an open-air amphitheater used for different cultural activities. Throughout the year, visitors can attend theatre productions, concerts, dance performances, literary discussions, exhibitions, and film screenings. The council also operates its School of Visual and Performing Arts, with academies devoted to theatre, music, dance, and fine arts. These programs provide training for emerging artists while offering established performers and creators opportunities to present their work to audiences. Among its major events is the World Culture Festival Karachi, an international celebration bringing together artists and performers from many countries. Its program includes concerts, theatrical productions, dance, visual art exhibitions, and film screenings, encouraging cultural exchange between Pakistani and international participants.

The council also organizes smaller festivals, conferences, workshops, and exhibitions throughout the year.
