Ata Bazar, Luxor

Ata Bazar, also known as Atta Store, is a family-run gift shop and art gallery near the entrance to the ancient temple area. Established in 1948, it is one of the area’s oldest souvenir shops and has an official government license dating back more than seven decades. Rather than a large market district, it is a single shop known for clear prices, reliable service, and a calmer shopping experience beside the busy local bazaar.

The shop sells Egyptian-made gifts and decorative pieces, including sterling silver cartouches, Egyptian cotton scarves, alabaster carvings, jewelry, papyrus-style artwork, and hand-carved basalt statues inspired by ancient Egyptian art. The shop offers live hieroglyphic engraving on cartouches and stone pieces, with invoices and authenticity certificates for purchases.

Ata Bazar is also known for its fixed-price policy, which avoids the pressure of bargaining common in many tourist areas. The owners, Hamada and Osama, are often mentioned for welcoming visitors with local drinks such as chilled hibiscus tea. Because the shop does not pay commissions to guides or taxi drivers, visitors may need to ask for it directly. Its family links with nearby hospitality businesses add to its local character.
