Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop, London

Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop, London

This iconic toy store continues the legacy of its namesake founder, who, from the late 19th century until his passing in 1937, specialized in selling intricately detailed miniature theater stages made from paper. Even esteemed author Robert Louis Stevenson was an admirer, remarking, "If you love art, folly, or the bright eyes of children, speed to Pollock’s." Today, the captivating antique model theaters may come with a hefty price tag, but there is also a wide array of enchanting reproductions available for less than £10.

Additionally, the store boasts an extensive collection of nostalgic items such as puppets, marionettes, teddy bears, Victorian paper dolls, spinning tops, jack-in-the-boxes, and other traditional children's toys harkening back to a time before batteries were necessary (or even existed in toys).

Tip:
Verify the current status of the nearby Pollock's Toy Museum to ensure it is still in operation today.
