Brighton Centre, Brighton

The Brighton Centre, located in the heart of Brighton, is a premier conference and exhibition venue renowned for its versatility and central role in the region's events landscape. As the largest purpose-built events venue on the South Coast, it holds a significant place in southern England, particularly for hosting major conferences, including those of British political parties and other national bodies. With a capacity to accommodate up to 5,000 delegates, the Centre is not only a hub for conferences but also serves as a venue for weddings, banquets, and other special events.

Opened on 19 September 1977 by James Callaghan, the Brighton Centre was designed by Russell Diplock & Associates in a distinctive Brutalist style, characterized by extensive use of textured concrete. Its strategic location on Brighton’s iconic seafront, within 200 meters of major hotels, makes it easily accessible for both local and international visitors, with Brighton Station just a 10-15 minute walk away.

The Brighton Centre is also a key player in the city's cultural scene, having been used as a live music venue since its inception. It regularly hosts performances by big-name rock, pop, and comedy acts, as well as a variety of exhibitions, festivals, and fairs, making it a focal point for entertainment in the city.

In addition to its role as an event venue, the Brighton Centre's Box Office doubles as one of the city’s Visitor Information Points, providing information, help, and advice to tourists and visitors. The Centre is a significant economic contributor to Brighton, generating an estimated £50 million in revenue for the city as of 2004, further cementing its importance as a key asset to the region.
