Büro Center, Frankfurt
The Frankfurter Büro Center (Frankfurt Office Centre) is a 40-story skyscraper standing at a height of 142 meters (466 feet) located in the Westend-Süd district of Frankfurt, Germany. This architectural marvel was designed by Richard Heil, an architect hailing from Frankfurt. Notably, the primary occupant of the building is the internationally renowned law firm Clifford Chance.
The construction of this skyscraper faced significant challenges during 1975 due to the oil crisis. It remained on hold until 1979 due to high construction costs and tenant difficulties. ECE project development stepped in, made agreements, and completed the tower in 1981 with a gross floor area of about 52,000 square meters (560,000 square feet).
The Modernist Büro Center showcases an exterior construction using granite and aluminum. Notably, the building boasts a substantial air conditioning system that ensures "ecologically-friendly" air circulation throughout all its floors. Additionally, in 1997, a towering sculpture by the artist Claus Bury, standing at a height of 21 meters, was erected on the square in front of the skyscraper.
Over the years, the ownership of the building has changed hands. It was owned by DEGI, an open property fund affiliated with Dresdner Bank, from 1985 to 2007. Subsequently, it was acquired by the Goldman Sachs Whitehall Fund. In 2016, the property transitioned to the ownership of PBM Germany, a construction company headquartered in Berlin.
