Campagne Pastre (Parc Montredon Pastre), Marseille
The Montredon Pastré Park, sprawling over 112 hectares between Pointe Rouge and Grotte Rolland, extends to the hills of Marseilleveyre. Back in 1974, Countess Pastré generously donated a significant portion of her property to the city, transforming the area into a magnificent public park, now considered one of the city's most treasured heritage sites. The park's main alley stretches for over 900 meters.
Its allure captivates visitors with two picturesque ponds, a charming canal, inviting playgrounds, and scenic hiking trails. Within the park, a 19th-century castle stands, housing bastides, and outbuildings from the same era. Among these, the Villa Provençale serves as an elegant accommodation for the city's guests.
The upper section of the park has been left untouched, preserving its wild character and offering breathtaking views of the Marseilleveyre hills and the enchanting Calanques. The entire wooded area of the park has earned a place in the classified site of the Calanques, becoming a gateway for passionate hikers. On the lower grounds, a water garden has been thoughtfully designed, featuring three distinct zones: serene ponds and meadows, a shaded and peaceful Provencal mall for strolls, and an open-air amphitheater.
In collaboration with the Marseille Water Company (Société des Eaux de Marseille), a monumental fountain symbolizing the majestic Alps and the origin of the Durance River has been erected, marking the starting point of a remarkable water circuit envisioned by the architect Marc Dossetti.

Marseille's Old Town
Marseille’s Old Town, known as Le Panier—which means “the Basket” in French—is the historic heart of the city and one of the oldest urban settlements in France. Its name likely derives from an old inn called “The Inn of the Basket,” which existed in the 17th century, though the district itself traces its origins back more than 2,600 years.
