Casa Monica Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection is a historic hotel located in Saint Augustine that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern luxury. The hotel is housed in a beautifully restored 1888 landmark building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, featuring castle-like Spanish architecture and original artwork. The hotel was originally opened as Casa Monica by Franklin W. Smith, a notable Victorian architecture enthusiast and social reformer who was instrumental in interesting Henry Flagler in investing in Florida. The hotel was later purchased by Flagler, renamed the Cordova Hotel, and was host to many parties, balls, fairs, and charity events during the early 20th century.
After being closed during the Great Depression, the hotel was repurposed as the Saint Johns County Courthouse and later housed government offices and archives as well as courtrooms. The building was renovated in the late 1990s and restored to its original grandeur, featuring striking Moorish columns and sophisticated style. The hotel's beautifully appointed accommodations offer boutique amenities such as luxury bedding, complimentary Wi-Fi, pristine bathrooms, and views of downtown Saint Augustine.
