Center of Alameda Arts, Santiago

Center of Alameda Arts (Centro Arte Alameda) stands as a prominent cinema nestled in the heart of Santiago. Boasting over three decades of experience, this venue's primary focus lies in showcasing films while also embracing an array of cultural initiatives, such as musical events, plays, book launches, comedy shows, and more.

In 1992, the establishment came into being under the name Cine Arte Alameda, comprising a 300-seat movie theater and a smaller 27-seat microcinema. Its core mission was to present both national and international art cinema, offering a rich selection of productions not commonly found in mainstream commercial theaters throughout the city.

From its inception, the cultural center embraced a liberal and avant-garde spirit, pioneering significant milestones in cinema history. Notably, it proudly screened "The Last Temptation of Christ," a film that played a central role in the legal battle that ultimately put an end to film censorship in the country in 2001. Furthermore, Center of Alameda Arts was at the forefront of promoting cycles of films with an LGBTQ+ focus, making it the first cultural center in Chile to do so.

Over the years, the venue has seen diverse applications, hosting concerts, live performances, and fairs on special occasions. In 2003, "El Living," an innovative space located on the second floor, was inaugurated to hold captivating live musical events. Additionally, the establishment featured Café Arte Alameda and an art gallery within its premises, adding further artistic dimensions to its already vibrant ambiance.
