Dongnaeeupseong (Dongnae Village Fortress), Busan

Dongnae Village Fortress is a historical gem from the Goryeo era. Despite its ancient origins, the first recorded mention of Fortress dates back to 1021 during the twelfth year of King Hyeonjong's reign in the Goryeo Dynasty. Dongnae, originally part of Busan until the Joseon period, has a rich historical background. However, the Japanese occupation led to the renaming of the city to "Busan."

The Dongnae Village Fortress encompasses three command posts along an extended trail course, each offering unique perspectives of the surroundings. The Seojangdae Command Post, a two-story watchtower situated on a slope. As walkers pass through the tranquil residential area, this wooden watchtower provides a distinctive resting area. The recently restored stone walls of Dongnae Village Fortress showcase a harmonious blend of old and new, with new bricks placed atop the original ones, preserving the fortress's authenticity.

The journey along the stone walls reveals the grandeur of the North Gate, providing a spacious and peaceful view of Eupseong Square. The undulating path and staircase-style trail add to the charm, creating an immersive experience for visitors. Reaching the Bukjangdae Command Post, the highest point of Dongnae Walled Town, offers panoramic views of the walled town, downtown Dongnae, and even the Gwangandaegyo Bridge in the distance.

As daylight wanes, Dongnae Village Fortress transforms into a captivating spectacle. The subtle illumination from the beautiful lights adorning the walled town creates a mesmerizing ambiance. Even after sunset, the fortress welcomes walkers, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment for those looking to unwind.
