Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Holy Trinity Church), Aachen
Dreifaltigkeitskirche is a Protestant church built between 1897 and 1900, at a time when the area around it was expanding quickly. The building follows a Neo-Gothic style, which is easy to recognize in its pointed arches, tall windows, and narrow tower. When it was constructed, the church served a growing Protestant community and was meant to be clearly visible in its surroundings.
The church was badly damaged during the Second World War. Bombing destroyed large parts of the roof and interior, and the building could not be used for some time. Repairs were carried out mainly in the 1950s. The interior was rebuilt in a simpler style, so the exterior keeps its late 19th-century look while the inside reflects a post-war design.
Today, the interior is open and bright, with simple lines and little decoration. Tall windows bring in natural light and create a calm atmosphere. Alongside regular services, the church is used for concerts and local events, and its acoustics work well for organ and choir music.
