Dubliner Pub, Omaha

The Dubliner Pub is a long-running, locally owned Irish basement bar that has been part of Omaha’s nightlife since 1978. Founded by Paul McGill, who converted a former 19th-century coal storage cellar, it first operated as Horbach’s Pub before being renamed the Dubliner Pub in 1982. Located in the basement of the historic John A. Horbach Building, constructed in 1894, it is closely associated with the Old Market entertainment district.

The venue operates exclusively as an adult nightlife destination for drinks, dancing, and live music rather than as a restaurant. The pub offers more than 100 beers on draft, in bottles, and in cans, together with authentic Irish whiskeys, cocktails, and rotating weekly specials. It does not serve food or maintain a kitchen. Its subterranean interior preserves a traditional Irish pub atmosphere with exposed brick walls and artifacts from the building’s early years. The space is designed for socializing and entertainment, regularly hosting local and touring performers playing traditional Irish music, rock, and blues. Beyond daily bar service, the Dubliner hosts open mic nights, holiday celebrations, and private events. Its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration is among its best-known traditions, with doors opening at 6:00 AM for all-day festivities.

A dedicated private event space in the basement accommodates up to 100 guests and allows outside catering for private celebrations or corporate functions. Because schedules and entertainment change regularly, visitors should check the current live music lineup and opening hours before visiting.
