Egmont, Aachen

Egmont, Aachen

Egmont is a long-running café and bar known as a relaxed social meeting place. It is not a classic restaurant with a full kitchen, but a spot centered on drinks and conversation. The interior follows an Art Nouveau style, with curved lines and decorative details that give it a slightly old-fashioned feel. Tables are placed close together, which creates a shared and lively atmosphere even when people are simply sitting and talking.

Egmont is mainly active in the evening and at night, when it fills with students and regular visitors. The mood is busy but easygoing, and many guests stay for several hours. It is common to stop here as part of a longer evening rather than for a quick drink.

Food works in a special way here. Egmont does not have a full kitchen for lunch or dinner, but guests are still allowed to order food from nearby restaurants and eat it at their table. This includes dishes from the Lebanese place AKL next door, which remains a popular choice. Food and drinks are paid for separately, as they come from different businesses. Egmont itself is best known for its drinks, especially its wide Belgian beer selection and a large range of teas, reinforcing its role as a place to sit, talk, and spend time.
