Falls Incline Railway, Niagara Falls
The Falls Incline Railway, originally known as the Horseshoe Falls Incline, is a modern funicular railway offering a quick, scenic, and convenient ride between two key Niagara Falls landmarks: the Table Rock Centre and the Fallsview Tourist Area. Situated beside the iconic Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls, this inclined elevator is not only practical but also offers panoramic views of the falls as you rise or descend along its short but steep track.
Originally constructed in 1966 by Swiss manufacturer Von Roll for the Niagara Parks Commission, the railway started with open-air cars and later received a full upgrade in 2013, transforming into a fully enclosed, climate-controlled, and accessible system-making it operational year-round regardless of weather conditions.
Unlike the older incline railways that dropped into the Niagara Gorge, the Falls Incline Railway provides a horizontal connection, linking the Niagara Parkway near the falls to the higher elevation of Fallsview, home to attractions such as the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, Minolta Tower, and several major hotels. It also offers easy access to the “Bridge of Flowers”, a pedestrian crossing over the Niagara Parkway into Table Rock.
The bottom station conveniently connects to Table Rock House, a historic building from 1853 that hosts dining options, gift shops, an observation deck, and the famed Journey Behind the Falls experience.
Tickets are available at both the top and bottom stations, with children under 2 riding free. Friendly Niagara Parks ambassadors are available for assistance.
Whether you're heading to your hotel or exploring the Table Rock Welcome Centre, the Falls Incline Railway is a seamless way to move between the falls and the vibrant resort area-while soaking in one of Canada’s most breathtaking views.
